Biography
Susan Kammeraad-Campbell has been a researcher and evaluator on initiatives by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. As a member of the Charleston CARRI team, she is a key player in the case study evaluating of the resilience of the Charleston region, and in the development of resilience indicators for generalized community assessment.
Kammeraad-Campbell served as director of publications for the Medical University of South Carolina for five years; co-founded Palmetto State Pharmaceuticals, a point-of-care pharmaceutical service and re-packager; and serves as publisher and editor in chief of Joggling Board Press, an independent publishing company.
She has long been involved in community development and strategic planning efforts, including serving as executive director of the Summerville, S.C., Downtown Restoration Enhancement and Management Corp., consultant to Charleston Southern University and chair of the Talawanda (Ohio) 2000, a strategic planning initiative. She is an award-winning author and journalist. Her book, “Doc: The Story of Dennis Littky and His fight for a Better School,” was made into an NBC movie of the week. She has worked as a journalist for United Press International and newspapers in the Midwest, New England and the South.
