First CARRI Community Forum, April 28, 2009

 

The Community and Regional Resilience Institute (CARRI) held its first Community Resilience Forum in Charleston, South Carolina, on April 28, 2009. CARRI brought is three partner communities (Gulfport, Mississippi; Charleston/Tri-County Area, South Carolina; and Memphis/Shelby County Urban Area) together to discuss community resilience. More than fifteen community representatives (including four mayors) shared lessons learned and participated in discussions surrounding: 1) Executive Leadership and Community Resilience; 2) Private Sector at the Heart of Community Resilience; 3) Enhancing Community Resilience through Coordination; 4) Building Local Capacity to Enhance Community Resilience; and 5) Local Government Leading the Way.
